Peginpol is a medical device in powder form for the preparation of an oral suspension, indicated for the treatment of constipation. Peginpol is particularly suitable for chronic constipation and occasional bowel irregularity.
Peginpol is a medical device with a laxative action that regulates bowel function naturally through an osmotic mechanism. Thanks to its affinity for water, Peginpol softens the stools and facilitates evacuation without causing cramps, abdominal pain or urgency. Its effectiveness does not diminish over time. It is neither absorbed nor fermented in the intestine, does not irritate the intestinal mucosa and is excreted unchanged in the stools.
Composition
One whole sachet (full dose) contains 10 g of Macrogol 3350. The sachet can be divided into two 5 g half-sachets (half dose).
Gluten- and lactose-free.
How to use
From 6 months to 2 years of age (up to 12 kg): 5 g (half dose) once or twice daily.
From 2 to 11 years of age (12 kg to 20 kg): 10 g (full dose) once or twice daily.
Over 11 years of age (or weighing more than 20 kg): 10 g (full dose) one to three times daily.
Dissolve the contents of one whole sachet (10 g) in 125 ml (approximately one glass of water), stirring until completely dissolved. For a half dose (5 g), dissolve the contents in 62.5 ml (approximately half a glass of water).
It is recommended to take Peginpol between meals. The daily dose may be divided into several administrations. The dose may be increased or reduced depending on the individual response to treatment. In all cases, it is advisable to consult a doctor. In children, use the product only on medical advice. The maximum dose normally required does not exceed three whole sachets (30 g) per day. Peginpol is not recommended for children under 6 months of age.
Undesirable effects
At the doses required to achieve a therapeutic effect, no side effects have been reported.
Gastrointestinal disorders, borborygmi, abdominal pain, nausea and mild diarrhoea may occur, particularly during the initial period of use. Hypersensitivity and allergic reactions (skin rash and urticaria) may occur rarely. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if any adverse reactions occur, including reactions other than those listed above. If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose; wait and take the next scheduled dose.
